https://colonymagazine.com/tent-city/brunch-on-the-bluffs-atascadero-greyhound-foundation-serves-a-dish-of-piedras-blancas/ Join us for another adventure to Piedras Blancas Lighthouse. This gem of the Central Coast provides a glimpse into our nation’s past when lighthouses served a vital role in maritime navigation. On January 27, 2019 you will have a rare opportunity to enjoy a private visit at this historic landmark, right in our own backyard.
Our journey begins with a Mimosa in Sunken Gardens as we board a chartered bus to the lighthouse station in San Simeon. Thanks to Still Waters Winery, Paul & Pat Hoover along with Rick Johansen’s generous donation of all the Sparkling White Wine for the bus ride and brunch, we promise you won’t go thirsty! Our signature Lighthouse Coffee will be available all day long. A catered champagne brunch by Stein’s BBQ awaits our arrival where we will sit and enjoy the majestic views, some tasty food and music by the popular duet of Martin Paris and Debbie White. After brunch enjoy self-guided tours of the historic lighthouse and walk away with a deeper understanding of this local treasure and its significance. Throughout your tour and ground exploration, enjoy wine tastings donated by the following local wineries: St. Hillaire, Starr Ranch, Seven Angels’ Pear Valley, Paso Port, Guest House Grill and Eberle Winery. The gift shop will be open too! As you explore the multiple walking paths where the Silent Auction items await, you’ll also be treated to the majestic scenery and numerous marine animals. California sea lions and harbor seals hang out on the offshore rocks to rest. Elephant seals utilize ad- jacent beaches. Gray whales, humpback whales, and bottlenose dolphins can often be seen. Sea otters forage along Point Piedras Blancas and wrap themselves in kelp to rest. The afternoon will be capped off with a preview dance from the Atascadero Grey- hound Foundations Community Dancer Tom Butler, (Atascadero Unified School Dis- trict Superintendent) and his Choreographer Kara Frenzel. No fundraiser can go with- out the famous Auctioneer, Doug Fillipponi leading our Live Auction with some very nice donated items for your interest! All proceeds from this amazing event will support the Lighthouse Education Pro- grams. The Greyhound Foundation has committed themselves to raise the funds needed for continued support of their Coffee Company, Mentoring and Counseling programs, Reality Tour, Wellness Center, After School program and Resource Center now located at the Atascadero Chamber of Commerce. Get your tickets now before they sell out and join us in supporting the ATASCADERO LIGHTHOUSE PROGRAM. |
